March 2027 Book Releases: Romance & Fantasy to Watch

March’s shortlist is for readers who love the social world around a sports romance. Cardinal Rule begins a new family-centred series; Bad Idea returns to the wider Briar universe with a new generation. With two selected dates a fortnight apart, there is room to meet both casts without a release-day pile-up.

This is a curated shortlist, not a complete list of every book published this month. Dates were checked against author and publisher information on 2 November 2026 and can change; editions and territories may differ. No unconfirmed spice ratings have been assigned.

What to read in March

Cardinal Rule by Liz Tomforde — 2 March

Wilder Woods introduces a connected family and a new sporting setting in Northern California. This is a natural place to start if you enjoy following a group of characters across several romance novels. Detailed relationship tropes remain unconfirmed, so we are watching for fuller publisher information rather than treating early speculation as fact.

Bad Idea by Elle Kennedy — 16 March

Ivy Di Laurentis is concentrating on dance; AJ Connelly’s hockey life is already messy. Their connection is further complicated by his history as her brother’s best friend. This Briar-set standalone offers a next-generation entry into Kennedy’s college-romance world, with friendship fallout and future plans pressing in around the attraction.

Choose your March reading mood

Choose Cardinal Rule if meeting a new connected family is the main attraction. Choose Bad Idea if a college setting, a dancer and a hockey player sound more like your next read. Both are on the radar for their announced premises; these are previews, not reviews based on finished copies.
